Brief description of the position:
The Design Project Manager drives planning, coordination, and execution of design activities across all phases. This role ensures smooth project flow, milestone tracking, and team alignment while balancing creative requirements, feasibility, timing, cost, and agile development principles.
Key Task:
1.Manage design projects from concept to final approval across all domains: Oversee the full lifecycle of design work, ensuring creative goals, technical constraints, and timelines are balanced throughout the project.
2.Align project timing, deliverables, and milestones with PEP and agile methods: Ensure structured timing aligned with VW development processes while integrating iterative workflows and sprint-based tracking when relevant.
3.Coordinate internal and external stakeholders in design development: Serve as interface between design, engineering, marketing, UX, suppliers, and headquarters to ensure shared understanding and aligned delivery.
4.Track progress, identify risks, and implement countermeasures early: Ensure project transparency via regular updates and proactively resolve gaps or bottlenecks in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
5.Apply agile project management principles to support iterative development: Plan sprints, manage design backlog items, facilitate agile ceremonies, and promote flexibility within structured milestones.
6.Support capacity planning and team workload balancing across projects: Coordinate with design operations to ensure realistic timelines and proper distribution of tasks and resources.
7.Facilitate design reviews and ensure decision loops are well documented: Prepare and moderate review sessions, ensure decisions are recorded and implemented across disciplines.
8.Monitor cost targets and design investment alignment throughout the project: Track project scope and costs, provide regular updates, and ensure design deliverables remain within agreed financial frames.
9.Ensure proper project documentation and executive presentation delivery: Prepare management reports, milestone documentation, and design review materials in collaboration with relevant leads.
10.Drive continuous improvement in project and agile delivery practices: Refine project workflows, reporting tools, and agile structures based on lessons learned and team feedback.
Qualification and skills required for the position:
1. Degree in Project Management, Design, Engineering, or related fields.
2. Additional boost: Knowledge of automotive development and PEP Experience in agile and traditional project management (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) . Familiar with design workflows, sprint planning, and iterative development.
3. Structured, communicative, and problem-solving mindset.
4. Fluent in English and Mandarin, German a plus.
