Department Mission

Software and patent analysis plays a very important role at CARIAD CN as it transferred into a software-driven company. With the fast grow of open source and LLM implementation not only in global platform projects but also CEA projects, software and patent analysist is required to secure and protect company rights from software-designed products.

Position holder requires strong technical(software) and legal background as well as corresponding double qualifications as engineer and patent attorney which is currently not existing in the company, nor other group entities.

Job Responsibilities: 

Embedded within the Legal Department of Volkswagen Group China, the Software and patent analysis position is responsible for:
•    Evaluations/interpretations of IP laws and regulations/standards;                                                                       
•    Monitoring of legal framework and requirements in Region China;
•    Innovation mining and Inventor training
•    Evaluation of innovations and management of resulting patents prosecutions and registrations
•    FOSS license checks and evaluations
•    AI related legal evaluations 
•    Copyright recordals, particularly for software products 
•    IP agreements, e.g. license agreements and delimitation agreements  

Required Qualification:
•    Education: Master in IT or ICT engineering or similar technical education, preferably with overseas studies
•    Work Experience: 5+ years professional experience in patent work in Patent Office/a leading IP agency/law firm or a multinational company in China 
•    Knowledge, skills and abilities: 
•    English:  Fluent spoken and written English, Chinese and German language is a plus
