Brief introduction of this position:
A Concept Coordinator in the vehicle concept development process is a cross-functional role that plans, organizes, and aligns all activities, teams (e.g., design, engineering), and timelines to ensure the vehicles initial concept from defining user needs to outlining technical feasibility progresses smoothly, stays on track, and meets core project goals.
Key tasks:
- Cross-team alignment: Bridging communication between siloed groups (e.g., design, engineering, powertrain, marketing, procurement) to ensure shared understanding of concept objectives, resolve conflicting priorities (e.g., design aesthetics vs. manufacturing feasibility), and unify input into the concept.
- Timeline & milestone coordination: Developing and tracking concept-phase timelines, flagging delays (e.g., late feasibility studies), and adjusting workflows to meet critical checkpoints (e.g., concept review, stakeholder sign-off).
- Stakeholder coordination: Acting as a liaison between internal teams (e.g., R&D, product management) and external partners (e.g., suppliers, design consultancies) and JVs, relaying feedback, and ensuring all stakeholders are updated on concept progress or changes.
- Risk & conflict coordination: Identifying early bottlenecks (e.g., conflicting technical requirements) or risks (e.g., cost overruns for a key concept feature) and facilitating problem-solving across teams to keep the concept viable.
- Support and coordinate with ESK WOB team and JVs
Qualification and skills:
- Master in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering or similar.
- Minimum 5 years of working experience in automotive industry R&D: Vehicle Architecture, geometrical integration, engine room layout, under floor layout etc.
- Well-founded technical knowledge of the requirement for packaging the e-drive powertrain, thermal mgmt. system, HV battery, domain controllers, chassis system etc.
- Deep understanding of automotive processes and procedures;
- CATIA DMU, GSD, Sketches
- Knowledge of vehicle packaging and ergonomics standard.
