The System Design Engineer ensures the functional safety and technical robustness of electric drive systems, focusing on power electronics and whole e-drives. The role manages risk analyses (FMEA), technical requirements, and change processes to guarantee the highest quality and safety standards across the entire development lifecycle.
Key Tasks:
Requirement Engineering: Structured collection, analysis, and specification of technical requirements for the drive train (from the requirement specification/lastenheft to detailed component specifications).
Change Management: Steering and documenting requirement changes (Change Management), including impact analyses on the overall system and the risk analysis.
Traceability: Ensuring seamless traceability between customer requirements, system requirements, FMEA results, and corresponding verification measures.
Interface Management: Close coordination with technical departments (Hardware, Software, Thermal, Mechanical) to minimize systemic dependencies and interface risks.
FMEA Management: Leading, moderating, and creating System-FMEAs and Design-FMEAs for power electronics as well as the overall electric drive to identify potential failure modes at an early stage.
Risk Mitigation: Deriving and monitoring concrete avoidance and detection measures from the FMEAs and ensuring their implementation in the design.
Quality Assurance: Supporting the creation of test plans and validation strategies based on the risks identified in the FMEA.
Standard Compliance: Ensuring that all documentation and processes comply with relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 26262 and ASPICE).
Organizing and leading technical reviews for requirements and risk analyses to ensure technical consistency.
Ensure compliance with targets for engineering, cost, quality and deadlines.
