Brief Description of the position:

This position ensures the technical development of electric materials in China region, performing specific and complex testing in accordance with Volkswagen Group standards. By applying specific electric material knowledge, it supports the processes of Technical Development, Quality Assurance, Production and Purchasing, including the JVs and components plants.

Key Tasks:

• Test electric materials and interpret results in accordance with Volkswagen Group standards to issue a release recommendation (ensuring the vehicle production in accordance with Volkswagen Group standards)
• Review specific electric material requirements in the technical drawings to issue a release recommendation (ensuring the vehicle production in accordance with Volkswagen Group standards).
• Perform detailed failure analysis, define possible root causes and corrective measures to support FAP in China region. Develop lessons learn for new projects based on the performed analysis.
• Develop, test and evaluate cost reduction ideas and new materials in accordance with the requirements of China market.
• Establish specific material working group in the China region to exchange know-how with the JVs and Component plants.
• Establish round robin testing within material technology laboratories in the region China.
• Participate in proficiency testing according requirements of Volkswagen Group to ensure technical competence.
• Train material technology employees in JV or Component plants, to ensure testing competence in accordance with Volkswagen Group standards.
• Evaluate supplier laboratories and JVs laboratories to ensure material testing in accordance with Volkswagen Group standards.
• Ensure maintenance and calibration of the equipment under their responsibility.

Qualifications and skills:

• The necessary education for this position requires a university degree in one of the following areas (Bachelor, Master or PhD): Material technology, Mechanical engineering, or other natural sciences.
• Working experience of 5 years in the automotive industry (OEM’s or suppliers) on the field of metal Material Technology. 
• English language is required for this position, additional German language is preferred.
