Brief description of the position:
- Formal R&D supplier on-site assessment to evaluate component and system development suppliers with focus on Mechanical, Electric/Electronic and ECU components and systems, including Software contents for vehicle and powertrain development and localization projects.
- Set-up and joint follow-up action-plans to ensure improvements on assessed weaknesses out of initial R&D assessment.
Key Tasks:
Perform R&D on-site assessment to evaluate component and system development suppliers with focus on Electric/Electronic and ECU components and systems, including Software contents
On-Site assessment as assessor of (development) suppliers regarding their full-stack in-house development scope (system / Hardware / Software)
Coordinate and plan R&D assessment requests by participation in department internal alignment meeting for R&D assessment planning. Accordingly set-up audit visit plan and travel arrangements
Consolidate the assessment result and represent it to engineering business units. Publish the on-site assessment outcomes after internal alignment
Set-up and joint follow-up action-plans to ensure improvements on assessed weaknesses out of initial R&D assessment. If relevant perform on-site follow-up visits and/or further R&D assessment
Consult and guide the engineering business department in technical concept reviews and supplier capability, supplier requirements and project performance related matters
Create supplier development concepts and associated supplier information / guidelines in close cooperation with relevant business units. Qualification of suppliers based on assessed deviations.
Participate in joint (Purchasing, Quality Assurance, R&D) new supplier scouting waves for initial potential evaluations
Support on-the-job training programs for new assessor.
Participate and contribute in Group Supplier Management overarching working groups and committees to further develop R&D assessment as "tool" for R&D Supplier Management.
Qualification and skills required for the position:
Education:
Master degree in the following field: Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Software Engineering, Electronics or similar.
Working experience:
-Minimum of 5 years practical experience in the vehicle/ system development (Mechanical/ Hardware/ Software engineering, simulation, testing (system level).
Knowledge, skills and others:
-Additional following certifications are a strong plus: certified Quality Manager, and/or VDA-, EOQ Auditor, Aspice Auditor and/or Functional Safety or Cybersecurity engineer
-Advantageous: Familiar with Volkswagen Development procedures and related processes and systems.
-High curiosity to get familiar with new technologies, quick to grasp, condense and prioritize high amounts of technical specifications
-High level of social and communication competence in a multi-cultural environment.
-Fluent in Chinese and English language. German language skills is a plus.
