The Position Holder (PH) defines the IT product (system) architecture and integration during development, operation and retirement. The PH hereby oversees the applied development methodologies and verifies the technically compliant product implementation according to (VW) standards
Key Tasks:
1.Defining (technical) requirements: The PH consults Product Owners during the definition of business (change) requirements and supplement own technical requirements into the product definition
2.Defining systems architectures and integration: The PH analyses existing infrastructure, technologies and services, and researches outside (e.g. market) alternatives to evaluate best product fit.
3.Forming technical vision and roadmap: The PH looks ahead to external (market) and internal (political) forces and designs the architecture roadmap. The PH supplies technical planning artefacts to ART
4.Ensuring (cost) efficient architecture: Within his sub-department, the PH is accountable for a resource efficient solution design that adheres to budgets, timeline, capacity and other restrains
5. Ensuring consistent architecture: The PH identifies the impact of his design to other solutions and products inside of the Product Line Engineering and resolves conflicting designs
6. Ensuring integrated architecture: The PH identifies impacts outside of Engineering and liaisons with domains (e.g. production) or entities (e.g. JV) and initiates (interface) alignments or escalations
7. Supervising technical implementation: The PH oversees and validates the technical deliveries of suppliers and other stakeholders during implementation and is accountable for the technical correctness
8. Monitoring and retiring IT product designs: The PH monitors the (cost) efficiency and effectiveness of running products and initiates a change or retirement process, before a product becomes obsolete
9. Ensuring compliance: The PH ensures a compliant design and technical implementation of products, i.e. adhering to relevant company or industry policies, standards and guidlines.
Qualification and skills required for the position:
- Bachelor degree or above in Computer Science, or Automotive Engineering or related majors
- 5+ years' of IT solution architecture experience in automotive industry
- Experience in mechanical R&D IT system construction and automotive product release management system design
- Proficiency in automotive PLM system architecture
- Strong business sensitivity and in-depth understanding of mechanical engineering, vehicle release process, baseline management, change management, etc.
- Proficiency in system integration architecture, data mapping, cross-domain business collaboration across V-model and end to end solution design
- Proficiency with development standards e.g. ASPICE, MSPICE, ISO 26262, UNECE WP.29
- Experience with VW R&D System landscape is preferred
- Chinese and English business fluent; German as plus
