key task:

  1. Lead HMI/UI visual design strategy: Define and execute visual systems for HMI touchpoints (infotainment, instrument clusters, industrial control panels, IoT displays) including iconography, color systems, typography, layout grids, and visual hierarchy.
  2. Craft high-fidelity visual assets: Create pixel-perfect mockups, scalable component libraries, and motion design (transition animations, status indicators, feedback visuals) optimized for HMI constraints (e.g., low-light visibility, small screen real estate, varying viewing distances).
  3. Establish and govern HMI visual design standards: Build brand-aligned visual guidelines, component libraries, and style guides to ensure consistency across products, embedded systems, and cross-functional teams.
  4. Translate UX requirements and user insights into visual solutions: Balance aesthetic excellence with usability—ensuring visuals enhance (not hinder) HMI functionality (e.g., intuitive control recognition, minimal cognitive load).
  5. Collaborate with engineers and product teams: Validate visual design feasibility for embedded systems (e.g., display technology, processing power, input methods) and iterate to resolve technical limitations without compromising visual quality.
  6. Optimize HMI visual performance: Refine visuals to improve load times, visibility in extreme environments (sunlight, low light), and accessibility (color contrast, text legibility) while adhering to industry regulations.
  7. Mentor junior visual designers: Share HMI-specific visual best practices, conduct design critiques, and upskill the team on visual craftsmanship for embedded systems.
  8. Stay ahead of HMI visual trends: Monitor emerging visual design innovations (e.g., minimalist automotive HUDs, industrial flat design) and integrate relevant trends to keep products visually competitive.
  9. Ensure brand and regulatory alignment: Uphold brand identity across all HMI visual touchpoints while complying with industry standards (e.g., ISO, NHTSA, WCAG) for safety and accessibility.
  10. Lead visual design iteration: Analyze user feedback, usage data, and field performance to refine HMI visuals—enhancing clarity, brand resonance, and user satisfaction post-launch.

Qualification:

  1. Bachelor’s or above in Visual Design, UI Design, Graphic Design, HMI Design, or related field
  2. 7+ years of professional HMI/UI visual design experience (automotive/industrial HMI preferred).
  3. Expertise in visual design principles: Mastery of color theory, typography, layout, and icon design—with a focus on HMI-specific needs (high-contrast visuals, scalable icons for small screens).
Deep understanding of HMI visual constraints: Experience optimizing visuals for embedded systems (display resolutions, processing limits, environmental factors) and input methods.
Ability to lead visual design projects, drive consensus on visual direction, govern design standards across cross-functional teams, focus on end-to-end visual execution for embedded system.
